De Bowen therapie is geschikt voor alle leeftijden en kent geen echte contra- indicaties. Het is een non invasieve manuele behandelmethode die zich kenmerkt door het werken op de bindweefselstructuren van het lichaam. De therapeut maakt kleine, zachte rolbewegingen met duimen of vingers op specifieke plaatsen op het lichaam. Deze rolbewegingen brengen via het bindweefsel en het zenuwstelsel een keten van reacties op gang in de diverse systemen van het lichaam en sporen het lichaam aan om oplossingen te vinden op weg naar een optimaal evenwicht van functioneren. De Bowen therapie heeft daarmee duidelijk een minder sturend karakter dan de meeste lichaamsgerichte therapieën; in plaats van dat het lichaam zich aan een manipulatie moet aanpassen is een Bowen move meer een uitnodiging aan het lichaam om te bepalen welke aanpassing er op dat moment nodig is.
In mijn behandelingen combineer ik Bowen met technieken van de viscerale manuele therapie indien nodig.

The Bowen therapy can be used safely in all age groups and has no real contraindications. It is a non invasive form of body work therapy and consists of a series of light rolling type of moves, which are mainly performed by the therapists fingers or thumbs. These Bowen moves give an impuls at the fascial tissues and nervous system thereby creating a chain reaction throughout all body systems and inviting the body to find solutions in order to restore optimal functional balance. Because of its impact on the totality of the body mind continuum the Bowen therapy can be used not only with issues concerning the musculoskeletal system but like a truly holistic approach within a much wider context.
